Our Story
Born from the Silk Roads of Guangxi
“Silk was never meant to be saved for special occasions. It was meant to be lived in.”
Serica House begins in Guangxi, China — one of the world’s most storied mulberry silk-producing regions, where silkworm farming has been woven into daily life for over two thousand years. The warm, subtropical climate, the endless rows of mulberry trees, the careful hands of generations of farmers — this is where our silk is born.
Guangxi accounts for a significant share of China’s raw silk output, yet the finest filaments produced here rarely reach the people who wear them as something truly personal. Silk was exported, processed, sold as luxury at a distance. We wanted to close that distance.
Serica House was founded on a simple belief: the softest, most beautiful material on earth should not live folded in a drawer. It should be worn on an ordinary Tuesday morning. It should be felt at noon, still lounging. It should travel with you, drape around your shoulders at home, and remind you — quietly — that comfort and beauty are not opposites.
What Serica Means
The name comes from Serica — the Latin name ancient Romans gave to China, meaning “the land of silk.” To them, silk from the East was the most coveted material in the known world, carried along trade routes that spanned continents. We carry that name as a reminder of where this all begins: a specific land, a specific craft, a material shaped by both nature and human hands over millennia.
How We Make It
Every piece begins with Grade 6A mulberry silk — the highest classification of raw silk fibre, produced from silkworms fed exclusively on fresh mulberry leaves. Sourced from Guangxi’s farming cooperatives, the silk is woven into fabric that is breathable in summer, warming in cooler months, and gentle enough for the most sensitive skin.
We design with restraint. Clean lines, considered cuts, a palette drawn from the natural world. Nothing that competes with the silk itself. Because when the material is this extraordinary, the design’s only job is to let it move.
Our Values
Everyday Luxury
Silk should feel like yours — not borrowed from a special occasion. We design for real days, real mornings, real life.
Source Transparency
Our silk traces directly to Guangxi’s mulberry farms. We believe knowing where something comes from is part of owning it properly.
Quiet Craftsmanship
No logos. No excess. Every stitch, seam and finish is considered. The quality is in the details you feel, not the ones you see.
